Alleged Arizona Fraud Targeting Christians and Military Personnel

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has charged James B. Duncan, Hendrix M. Montecastro and Maurice E. McLeod with defrauding almost $10 million out of hundreds of investors, including more than 100 personnel at a Tucson area Air Force Base.  As with many scams, the alleged scheme in this case-Pacific Wealth LLC- fished for victims in Christian ponds, referring to  “God’s will” in sales presentations to the Christian Faith Center in Tucson.  The trio even convinced one pastor to endorse the program.  (more…)

Arizona Case Highlights Tenacity of Scam Artists

The Arizona Securities Commissioner has obtained a judgment against a Gilbert, Arizona man, Leonard Clark Rhodes, Jr. for fraudulently selling unregistered investment programs  According to the Commission, Rhodes offered and sold two different investment programs—Semper Libera and the Universal Lease— to at least four Arizona senior citizens, two of whom were over 80 years old.
