QualifEye Blank Checks Before Investing

Today’s Wall Street Journal reports that so-called “blank check offerings” increased dramatically over the past year, and that they are emerging as an alternative to investment in private equity funds.  During my time as an Enforcement Branch Chief at the SEC, I handled several cases involving blank checks (also known as “blind pools“).  No investment illustrates so well the paradigm on which on securities regulation system is based.  (more…)
