SEC Charges Birmingham, Alabama Mayor

According to the SEC, Birmingham, Alabama Mayer Larry P. Langford “accepted more than $156,000 in undisclosed cash and benefits over the course of two years from William Blount, the chairman of Blount Parrish & Co, Inc.,” a broker-dealer based in Montgomery, Alabama.  The SEC’s litigation release contains the allegations about what Blount Parrish got for that money: (more…)

SEC Battles Mayor of Birmingham, Alabama

The Securities and Exchange Commission (”SEC”) has filed an action against Larry P. Langford, the current Mayor of Birmingham, Alabama seeking a federal court order requiring Langford to comply with a subpoena in an SEC Enforcement investigation into possible violations of the federal securities laws in connection with municipal securities transactions in Jefferson County.  (more…)
