Winnow Plus™ Service

 

Winnow Plus™ service provides enhanced protection for the customer considering an ongoing relationship with a broker. Winnow Plus protection includes quarterly reports giving IW’s Broker Safety Rating, with a list of the facts bearing upon the rating, including the specifics of any reported customer complaints or regulatory actions. It also includes monthly searches of the IW Broker Database for recent violations. If those searches yield results, IW will contact the customer immediately by phone and/or email. The ongoing protection and immediate notification of red flags provided by Winnow Plus service costs less than one dollar per day ($359) annually.

Broker misconduct commonly comes to light only as a firm updates the broker’s disciplinary record through filing a Form U4 or Form U5 with the FINRA. Broker-dealers do not always update those forms right away. It is not unusual, therefore, for several related customer complaints to land on the broker’s record in a matter of weeks or months. This service allows the customer to learn at least quarterly whether the broker has mistreated others in the months before the latest report, and to receive immediate notice of positive monthly searches of the IW Broker Database. The customer can then take steps to ensure that he or she will not be next in what might be a long line of mistreated customers.
